My team Sunderland were relegated with 15 points in 2005/2006 and won only 3 games in the league so that has to be up there. More recently we went on a 15 game winless run in 2009/2010 and a 9 game winless run in 2010/2011.

In terms of active top flight leagues, Galway United are currently on the worst losing streak in world football. In 2011 overall, Al Hazm of Saudi Arabia lost their last 15 in all competitions as of May 20th, while in Europe, who could forget KS Elbasani’s fourteen consecutive defeats in the Albanian Superliga, which concluded on May 16th.

Kilkenny City pretty much the whole time until they pulled out of the league.

I think I saw them win only a handful of games in a few years.

Thank **** the hurling team is better :p

Borussia Dortmund not winning away to Bayern Munich or Schalke 03+1 for decades. But things changed last season :D

I think 3 losses in a row is as bad as its ever been for LFC in recent history but the worst was 9 games split between two seasons Apr 29 1899 - Oct 14 1899

My team in Spain, Salamanca, started the season very brightly. They had a shot at the playoffs. Then in October in a match against Betis midfielder Miguel Garcia had a heart attack and very nearly died.

That obviously shook the team up quite a lot, and while they got a few points over the following games they went on a 10 game losing-streak that ultimately saw them go down.

That's terrible, you've got to feel for a team that suffers something like that.

Hopefully they'll come back stronger in the future!

    Season 1996/97

    0-5 Newcastle (a)
    3-6 Southampton (a)
    1-2 Chelsea (h)

Still won the league with only 75 pts!

I was reading on the Rovers website that it's the worst run in active top flights worldwide, so at least it's one for the record books...

Rovers are pretty poor finishers to a season in the last decade, so I'm guessing it's somewhere in there. 2 wins from the alst 7 last season, but it's probably the end of 2005 drawing to Drogheda, losing to Bray at home, then Pats away, Waterford at home, drawing the final game at UCD, losing at home to CHF and then a draw in the 2nd leg to CHF. Not all defeats, but probably the worst run..

    Is it not "only" 13?

We've been on a pretty bad run since May 2005.

Manchester United's longest losing streak in the league is 14 matches which lasted from 26 April, 1930 until 25 October, 1930.

The worst that I can remember in my lifetime was the 1986-87 season when United were in danger of relegation.

From August to the end of December they lost 9 and drew 7 out of 22 games, winning only 6 times putting them in the relegation zone.

That November Sir Alex came in to save the day, with the team finishing in 11th place.

Luckily it's been all good since then. :D

ya i was going to post this, was the first that came to mind. we also lost to fenerbache (losing our 40 year unbeaten home record) and was it Juve too and a league cup exit? think it was 6 without a win and there was a 1-1 draw with somebody in there i think.

remember that season review video, people were saying it was fergies 10th anniversary and without doubt, the most difficult period of results in his time...
