MBP SuperDrive fecked

Hi, just realised my SuperDrive on my non-unibody 2008 MacBook Pro seems fecked. First, it's like the curtain at the entrance is stiff and the drive is having trouble ejecting discs. Then I realise there's some 'communication error' and 'medium writing' error. So it's reading but not writing anything.

I've had loose connection problems in the past between the logic board and the screen inverter. That was fixed. Then I got problems with the screen reawakening from sleep. That's happening, though not as badly. Now this.

Anyone have any experience of this? Suggestions?

I had a faulty one in my 2008 unibody 13. Picked up a refurb model from The Book Yard and followed a step-by-step video on youtube.

The 'medium write error' is more than likely being caused because you are trying to write to cd's faster than they can handle it. For example in iTunes, when a burning a playlist you probably have the write speed set to 'maximum possible'. Try setting it to a lower speed (16x) and hopefully it should sort it!
