    Hello all,

Not quite a classic car but another bus I have bought. Its an ex-Dublin Bus driver trainer Olympian. Built in 1994, worked much of its life in Donnybrook Garage and went to the Driving School in about 2006 I think. Has been sat gathering dust (and damp - lots and lots of damp) in Broadstone for about 2 years now.

Runs really well! Will post some more photos as I start to clean her out and put all the bits back together that would have been borrowed for other buses while she sat out of use in Broadstone.

Apologies by the way for not being able to post the photo in, just the link. Small brain.

How do you go about buying a bus from Dublin bus.
I believe that the Bus Museum in Cork were trying to buy some and Dublin bus would rather scrap them than save them.
Not asking you your business but what would someone expect to pay for a good condition second hand bus,the older the better but good condition?

i think its past experiance of the Cork Bus Museum that puts people off selling to them perhaps. There has been a lot of litigation going on there. Id say they would be happy to sell a bus to an individual particulary someone with good credentials,

    I'd really love a ballpark figure €€€€€
    Would it get classic insurance?
Just a case of finding somewhere to park it.

Generally buses are sold via Tender from Dublin Bus and appear on the e-tenders website. The majority get sold to dealers in the UK and sold on from there. Many then end up back in Ireland again with private operators. The two that I have didnt go to UK dealers but would have had limited appeal to them anyway, given that neither were "service" buses (one a tree cutter and the other a driver trainer).

Prices can vary from a couple of thousand up to well over 10-20k for the newer ones.

The parking issue is always a problem once you get a large bus - doesnt exactly fit in the driveway! The two I have are stored outdoors and this is not ideal, particularly for the old Atlantean. So, if anybody reading has a large shed/barn for rent within reach of Dublin, please feel free to get in touch :)
