I reckon this is the best place on Boards to ask this.
I have an LG mobile phone that has a TV tuner built in. It seems to be an Mpeg2 tuner as i can get RTE sound, but no picture.
It will get sound only(and tell you the channel name) for RTE 1 & 2 TV3 TG4 and RTE News
I will be over in the UK next month so whats the chances that this phone will pick up the freeview signal over there ?
We will be camping in Devon/Cornwall but the missus would like to get her daily fix of Corrie and Emmerdale.

PS. If the Mods think it is more suited to the terrestrial section please move it. I just figured the satellite guys might be a better bet.

    Wrong forum-it's terrestrial.

Anyhow,mpeg2 is standard for UK atm.Irish dtt is mpeg4 which is why you get sound but no picture. It will work for you in the UK perfectly and you should get pictures and sound over there.

Thanks Zerks for the quick reply. I was fairly sure that it is an mpeg2 but really just needed to check that the UK are still using mpeg2.
I know it's a terrestrial question but the terrestrial section here seems to deal mainly with Irish signals.

If you're camping in Devon or Cornwall, it might be worthwhile using the digital uk postcode checker... just to check where your local TX might be! There are many infill transmitters along the coastline... http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/
