Good quality suits (from smaller shop)

Hey, I'm looking to buy a new suit for weddings, Christenings etc and am willing to spend 200 to 300 on it. I know there are plenty of shops out there but I would prefer to spend the money in a good smaller Irish business (preferably in the Dublin area) and not in one of the big department stores or in the super pricey Magee/Louis Copelands. Any advice?

McGeevers menswear in Ashbourne is a great shop, 40 min drive from city centre...great suits and service, will normally throw in free tie etc...and in your price range

The only place I can think of that will do decent ish suits that might be in your price range would be Baulmer on Dawson Street though I can't say for certain if they're Irish owned? I'd get suited in Abrahams but you'll pay min 450 in there for a suit, run by two Irish guys who are very nice to deal with.

There might be a couple of menswear stores (not the likes of Best - think they're British owned seeing as they the same guys own Hilfiger over here).

If you're buying it for one off use please advoid the following like the plague:

    1) Skinny cuts
    2) Shiny material
    3) 3 or 4 button jackets

Go for a simple 2 button jacket in a plain cut navy or grey suit (dark grey or charcoal preferable due to our weather over here). It's far easier to dress the suit up with bengal stipes, prince of wales checks etc if the suit is plain in my opinion. You can go with a pinstripe no problem but you'd want to be sure that you're able to match it with shirt and tie properly.
