:( Well, I guess the title may say it all, but for a little elucidation: I was using my new iomega 2TB external hard drive and trying to find freeware that would format it from NTFS to FAT32 so it could be used with my DVDR.. when unexpectedly Windows 7 told me I had to format the drive. It wouldn't let me use the drive without formatting it, so with trepidation I did this. NOW it's a 255GB external drive not a 2TB one. Is there anyway of returning it to 2TB??

Huge thanks in advance for any help in this matter!

Try formatting again using Swiss Knife. This should format it with full size support

This isn't supported by Windows 7 is it?

In the past hour the drive has dropped off Windows Explorer. Can't see it no matter what I do. Hmmmm... damaged drive perhaps?

Okay so there was encryption software on the hdd that was showing on windows explorer on a virtual cd drive - I ran that which reformatted the hdd back into 2TB. It's showing on windows explorer again now. Would still like to turn it from NTFS to FAT32 though.

That converted it into FAT32, thanks! Strangely, I STILL can't access the files via the usb port on my Philips DVDR - I didn't have this trouble with my older iomega 500gb hdd. Oddness.

Some manufacturers limit the cabability of what can be read from an external hdd to less than 1tb. That might be a cause of your problem.
