Ampeg SVT 2 Pro

Over the last few years I have unfortunately become more of a bass owner than a bass player and I've decided to sell off some of my kit.

I have an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro preamp, early 90's vintage, going into a Peavey power amp (can't remember the model off hand). This is pushing out over 1000w bridged into an old Peavey 2x10 cab that I have replaced the speakers with Eminence speakers (again can't remember the model off hand) to handle the power amp.

It's a bit of a Frankenstein setup that I put together over the years. I've been out of buying and selling for about 6 years and I have no idea what this setup is worth. Anyone have any insights?

Just to be clear, this is not an attempt to sell this so I'm not looking for offers here. I just want to see if it's worth selling as I'm not 100% I want to part with it.

Admins - Have not posted to this forum before so apologies if this breaks any rules.

Are you really pushing over k1 out of a 2x10 ?

    Hi Bayles,

To be honest I've never really pushed it to see just how loud it would go. I stopped gigging regularly about 10 years ago. Back then I was using 2 2x10 cabs (original speakers) with a 200w a side power amp. I bought the current power amp and speakers about 5 years ago when I intended to gig again but it never took off.

I've used this set up for rehearsals and a handful of small gigs and it certainly held it's own up against 2 guitars and 3 vocals all going through a PA and me as backline only. If I was playing with a full band including a drummer I don't know how well it would do. Personally I think I'd invest in a second cab like the one I have to be sure the setup would cope without bowing up :)

    Very long winded answer...

    Short answer - I don't know :)
