just east of the town are the amathus ruins, very easy to reach with the buses that go up and down 28th october avenue (main promenade), across the road from the ruins is probably the nicest part of the beach in Limassol, nice walks and a great place to watch the sunset

to the west of the town is the historial site of Kourion, very interesting and some great views from the top of the rock, the folks at the tourist office on the promenade (down near the old port entrance) will tell you where to pick up the bus and times, on the road before kourion is kolossi castle which was built by the crusaders

there is a bus every morning from the tourist office to the troodos mountains, down by the old port entrance you can pick up the cheap buses to larnaca, nicosia and paphos, its €5 for a day return to any of those locations
