Sorry if this is a seemingly random post, but this has troubled me. Coming back from town this afternoon, I was accosted in the street by a man draped in a union jack flag, waving a tin and shouting: "any spare change, luv." Disconcerted by the presence of the flag, I decided to sneak a glance at the label on the tin, and it was obviously some sort of loyalist cause he was collecting for. Now, several hours later, I'm looking out of my window, and there's even more of them out there! Seriously, WTF?! Needless to say, I didn't donate. :P Anyone else in and around Belfast seen this?

Why didn't you ask him what he was collecting for?

Makes a change from their usual tactic of taxing drug dealers for permission to work in "their" areas

It was longer than a sentence so I didn't read it all.

Probably for a band anyways. Cost a lot to equip. Marching season is kicking off.

Prob a Cavan man on the scrounge.

Hit him on the head with a turnip, then shout up the Provos at him!

You can if you want... The security forces will be more concerned about tackling online sectarianism than worrying about me tweeting about the disappointing lack of leaving cert weather.

Do you reckon I am right in saying its for a band btw? Costs over 20 grand if I remember correctly?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,239 ✭✭✭✭KeithAFC

Most likely. 5 grand a drum, some bands have 10-15 to 20 drummers. Then uniforms, then flutes, 15-20+ fluters. Base drum etc.

He was saving up for a big lambeg drum

I always thought it was very nice of the UVF and UDA to volunteer to defend Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan without being asked.

No, your thinking of the IMF, the IVF are taking all the taxpayers money and giving it to the poor starving bankers.
