Broke a new record of my own this morning,4 OOB's for a total 14 on a dogleg right par 4 359mts.
Almost did a Kevin Na on it:pac:

Ouch, stroke play competition I presume? Mine was a 12 on a 185 yard par 3, like yourself 4 balls OOBs left of green. It was on the 16th and had been doing nicely up until then, the further right I aimed the ball the more of a hook I put into them which the wind further caught.

Congrats, well played, keep it up, maybe next week you can beat it if you're lucky.

I've had horrors but the round that stand out the most was in Adare 4 years ago in a howling gale with my old starter set. I shot a 69...... on the front 9. The 7th was easily in double figures with 2 balls in the water and then hacking it all the way to the green.

Good going ! Atleast you had enough balls in the bag to allow you to finish the round !!

16th in mount temple co. westmeath aka Heartbreak Hill.

damm hole ruined many a round on me until i figured out you need to be sensible about your approach & always remember there is lots of room behind the green!!

Is that a par three? The hardest par three I've ever played is there.

Think I remember it now, iirc put two balls over to the righthand side of the green which is a steep bank with very heavy rough .

Dogleg right, stream across fairway & runs along the right, pond on the left. Hole is about 40 yards above your head on your second / third shot. Trees to the right as well.

There is a pic in the gallery of their webpage - can't link it here.

11 on a par 5 (8th at Gowran Park, off the blues) for me in recent memory, few years ago. Not a long hole and it's straight but it's also tree-lined and there's OOB all the way on the left, a ditch short of the green and water on the right of the approach.

    1. Tee shot into trees left.
    2. Sensible sideways(ish) towards the fairway through the 'gap' - hit a little stem of the last obstacle dead-on and rebounded 20 yards back at me and OOB. Lucky it didn't hit me...
    3. Penalty.
    4. Drop and try again, this time successfully.
    5. Go at the green with a 3-wood, leak into trees left near the green.
    6. Spot the Seve gap and attempt to pitch a low one onto the green, hits small stem and again rebounds 15 yards back at me and OOB.
    7. Penalty.
    8. Try again, successfully onto the green this time.
    9. Putt.
    10. Putt.
    11. Putt into the hole :D

    Hole 12?

My favourite Mitchelstown hole, pity they can't run that net all the way down the right though :D It sets up perfect for me, I have a great fade(slice) and am usually around the corner there with the drive!!!

My worst is about 13 I think in Waterrock on a par 5, thought it would never end, I have promised myself in future that if I hit two balls OOB I am going to finish out the hole with my putter no matter where I am, at least there is zero chance of being out of bounds!!!

Yup,that's the one. It's OOB both sides as far as the dogleg, used to be red staked so there wasn't so much punishment for a bad tee shot.
I play lefty and fade is my usual. Once she gets up into the prevailing headwind it just slices left OOB.
Hit 2 OOB from the box,5th hit the fairway short of the dogleg, lost another 2 OOB through the dogleg,11th was a chip onto green followed by a dumb 3-putt.

A 10 on our par three 17th during the Captains Prize last year whist in contention. I hate that hole

    I felt like this:

A 10 on the par 4 1st hole in last months medal - no penalty strokes either. Drove to the exact same spot in the following weeks comp and made par!

As an example of never giving up, played with a guy in inter scratch cup in Rathdowney this year who had a 9 on the par 4 1st. He then went +6 for the next 17 holes and won the comp!

Thats how I start every round with a bad first hole, but never recover quite as good as your friend!!!

Same for me. 3rd hole in The BlackBush, Medal tee, 550 Yards.... Drive, right OOB. 3rd perfect draw off tee, middle of fairway (why couldn't I do that the first time!!!!) Fourth, down the middle, (180 into wind to go). Went to my "go to" club, 5 utility, sliced OOB. 7th 6 foot from Green, chip....3 putts..madness.

I heard the guy that won the junior scratch in rathdowney this year was also playing with the inter scratch cup winner as both comps were played on the same day so if it was you well done

Alas it wasn't me who won but I did play with the two winners.
