    Ok, a few questions:

    1. when I switch from the big gear to the middle gear or from then small gear to the middle gear on the from it sounds like the chain is rubbing off the 'selector'(have to go on gear further and then back to the middle one to stop this + 1ce or 2ce the back sprocket 'changed gear' without being asked to. Is this something I'm doing wrong or are the gears not set correctly?
    2. How often should the tires be pumped and is 110PSI correct? I've been told by different sales folk:
    • Pump before every cycle
    • pump once every wk
    • pump every fortnight
    • Pump before every cycle but release some pressure after the cycle

Oh just took it out for a burn, 18km to start with, never realised how 'non-flat' the roads out my way are!! and how rough, my poor, poor butt:o

    1. Just ride her......:D The front derailleur HAS to rub off the chain to "de-rail" it from one chain ring to the other - that is part of the design, so I think you are worrying a bit too much about your new steed, continue to pedal gently through it. If you continue to have issues, bring it back to the shop and get them to check that the limits are correctly set on the derailleur - on other words that it is adjusted correctly. Cables stretch after a few weeks initial use and it may just need minor adjustment - a first service/adjustment should be included FoC. Dont 'cross chain' (ie dont select a gear that uses the outermost chainring, innermost sprocket, or vice-versa) as this will create noise and risk excessive wear on the chain.

    2. I would check by feel for each ride but generally mine need re-pumping every two weeks or so. You should buy a track pump (€25 or so, though Lidl? has some recently for a bit cheaper) as many standard hand pumps are generally incapable of generating enough pressure to get to 110psi in 23c tyres. A track pump will also have a built in gauge.
