Collecting a 01 C180 sports coupe on thursday and was wondering is it possible to change the flat badge on the bonnet to one of the stand up ones? And if so, where could i get one does anyone know? Would Merc dealers have them or would i have o order one? Cheers!

Ah the gun sight badge! Sadly as mentioned they are now politically incorrect but I always thought they added a touch of class to the older Mercs.

Actually looking at the above has reminded me they were designed to be bent back (up to a point!).

The coupe has 2 little studs holding on the small badge so changing them isn't an option.

New c class has a stick up badge so they can't be that bad

They're spring loaded so don't do any damage on pedestrian impact.

Mercs have either a target badge or else a large round one as part of the grille.

Typically, the large round grille is used on sportier models and the target on the luxury ones.

Also, the large round one is used on the lower end models such as A and B class.

It looks naff to have both on the one car. The C Series 3 door never had a target star so I would recommend against it. You can't get a grille without the frisbee sized star.

The car you're looking at might be the AvantGarde model.

These came with the flat badge on the bonnet along with usually a 3 stripe grille with a larger mercedes logo in the middle. This is true for the 2008 - models at least.

MB stopped putting the pop up sights badge on their non saloon and estate models ages ago. None of the coupes have them afaik as the 3 pointed star is integrated into the centre of the grill.
