Hello I bought a Sony Vaio in Argos back in November I still have the proof of purchase.
The problem is my laptop is playing up the Bluetooth is broken the Ethernet port has also decided not to work trust me these are not driver issues its a manufacture fault.
Where do I stand is it possible for me to demand a replacement or do I have to send it off for repair?
I just want to know my rights in the situation?

    repair...

    repair...replace or refund...

rule is they'll try to repair it...if they can't they'll replace it and then last thing is refund...

if the product is faulty straight away you can ask for a refund but you would have to bring it to their attention straight away..

i know there is the hassle with not having a laptop etc... but make sure you back up all your info before handing it to them, because odds are they'll wipe it... data on your laptop is your responibilty...

hope it works out ok... but try going through sony first... i know the contract is with argos... but all they will act as a middle man...they'll just end up going to sony themselves...sony probably will collect it from your house and return it to your house. rather then hassle of going to argos to drop it off and to collect it. at least ring sony they mightnt be able to fix it over phone but they might of encountered these faults before and may just do a swap... tho that is just my opinion.

Sony may also try to charge you for the repair or for collecting and returning it to you. Best to deal with the people you bought from and let them organise any repairs.

i'd still ring sony... least you can talk to someone qualified... if the solution they offer isn't to your liking ie having to pay for collection...by all means bring it to argos...

    best of luck tho

Wouldn't waste my time on Sony either, deal only with argos - they're the ones you're obliged to deal with and will be a lot easier to get a solution out of than Sony's laughable customer support

Agreed, Argos have a pretty good track record for repairs and, if necessary, replacement and you can walk into a shop and ask customer service staff how things are going face to face.

Sony however is like throwing your laptop into a black hole and hoping that it comes out the other side fixed!!!!

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
