Really cross with myself - but having spent about an hour trying to 'rod' a blockage in waste pipe leaving house to septic tank. Decided to give it 'one last go' - and yes.... the dreaded rod comes off thread, and now I'm well and truely blocked :(.
Anybody got any good ideas - before I have to call out 'Drains people' which I presume is going to cost me big time.

If its a straight run and leads to an opening could you push it out the other side?

Did you get a curved fork head with the rods as well as the drain pusher?
I've a septic tank with a very long and shallow drop so I've done a lot of rodding.
If you have such a head it's possible to put it on a couple of rods, and slip it onto the rod from the side. If you twist it at that point you can get enough grip to move the rod, and it might give you some more options. Can you see the rod in the drain at all?
How is it inserted? How long is it?

    Good luck!

Hi Niall ..... no its not visible ... the straight run to the tank is about 10yds so it could be anywhere there. I've got 4 rods left ... so will try tomorrow with that curved fork head thingy and if necessary, I can borrow some more rods. Dont think looking into septic tank that it would come through there (kind of a T junction arrangement) so i think it has to come back the way it came!
    Thanks for the suggestion!
