This is the Best Time in Human History

    It is not a recession!

This is the reality of a new technological age of great production potential and much reduced work.

    Great news. No more shortages.

What about jobs? Simple! Create more jobs from less work.

This is the best time in Human Historyicon7.gif

I think I read somewhere that since wars began, there has been accumulative 13 years of no wars. That's the best time in human history.

The best day in the History of the Human Race ........ Feb 28 1892. When Kerry beat Wexford 2 - 3 to 1 - 5 in the 1891 All Ireland Hurling Final. Ahhhhh! A day to be savoured. :)And please, no begrudging posts

Time: period we spend on this earth; average is longest since Methusela

Human; Us, we! hopping around on two legs.

History; all we know of about those that came before us.

You're right. This is a depression.

Sorry! Not a Depression. It may be DEPRESSING but that's a different argument. We can do things and have comforts and choices no previous generation could even dream of.

Best time ever by a mile. No contest.

We're almost back to it with many more apples and much more than a fig leaf.
We'll get thrown out again though if we don't start to appreciate and enjoy what it has to offer. Oh yes; and learn how to run the place properly!

Without the 90mill it's still better than if you were living 100 years ago; or 50; or 25 even. It didn't ever get better than this!

Unfortunately, no time will be the best time. Although you can look at the world now (well western civilisation) and claim everything's great, but unfortunately humans don't do satisfaction. They strive for more, and they strive for answers. Hey look, everyone on the earth is connected via internet. Isn't the amazing? Isn't it? Can you or can you not contact someone no matter where they are? (Almost) Why isn't your jaw hanging around your shins right now? F*cking TV, man! Electrons are accelerated at a screen which cause a chemical reaction giving us television... Oh wait, that doesn't happen... Because the **** is OLD! OLD! Now we use LCD! Cathode ray tubes? Pah!

And even more depressingly is the fact that the more our physical needs are satisfied the more the mind begins to THINK. And the more people reflect on themselves, the more people generally tend to be unhappy. I, literally, know no one that is content with what they have. I mean, actually happy and pleased with what they've accomplished and that's that. Everybody wants more.

Okay, I just starting typing a load of stuff and there's a lot there and I don't really want to delete it so I'll just post it. I think I'm too young to be the grinch's cynical uncle.. : /

TL;DR: People will always want more.

Not for the hundreds of millions who dont have enough food it isnt. I would rather be born 2k years ago and be very wealthy then born now and be very poor.

Hundreds of Millions, possibly Billions are poor and starving but for the first time in Human History we can provide enough food and we can deliver it. We could deliver a missile on Gidaffy's dinner plate should we decide to do so. We don't supply the food because we decide not to do it; not because we can't do it.

This is a time like no other regarding what we have the ability to do. The fact that we do not make good decisions does not take away from the times being good. I never said the people were good; I said the times were good.
