Is it possible to buy a small field in the country, that's near a road and then place a large piece of sculpture that you created there for public view? Is it legally possible to do this? Would you need to get planning permission? Or would it get removed due to objections?

Can't see why it's not possible but I suspect it would have to go through the planning process especially if it's tall, out of place with the local environment, liable to be a hazardous (distraction) to traffic or even in conflict with the local development plan. Talk to the planning office in the locality of the site and suss it out with them.
