Our principal never told our year who got into TY?!

Basically there was about 42 people applying for TY in my school this year so our principal told us the year would be gathered in the gym on the last week of school and an announcement would be made. The principal told us that if they got the go-ahead from the government they'd have two TY classes so everyone would get in. If not around 20 would get in and names would be pulled out of a hat. It never happened  < The principal is the type who'll make a promise and then not follow it through so no one was really surprised.

One of our teachers told us before we broke up for the holidays that we'd get told once the exams were going on. WE NEVER WERE!

So now,the exams are over and nobody who applied for TY has been told whether they've got into or not. So nobdy knows whether to get books for 5th year or TY next year!

Anybody got any idea how we'll be told cos it's really strange!

Nobody here is going to be able to tell you how you'll be told. Ask your principal. He's the only one who knows.

They may have not got the OK to run TY. Good old cutbacks.
I'd say they will send a letter to each of you.

Only 2 people didn't get into TY from my school, but a few people I know got put on "parole", which sounded rather sinister.

I didn't get a letter, but got in. There was a letter put up near the entrance to the school. If I were you I'd send an email or ring them. Surely you'll get a letter though? Now you won't know whether to buy books or not for 5th year!

We were called to an assembly (those who didn't get into TY were previously called out of class and told), where we were given letters informing our parents and the costs involved, this was back in March

OP, you should probably get a letter in the post, I mean they surely can't let it go til September

We found out weeks ago, those who got in got a letter then a few weeks later after places had been confirmed those who got extra spaces were sent letters and those who didn't get in got letters too, other schools in the town only found out like last week though so it is different for every school. Ring them and see, someone is bound to be doing an exam next week so your school will be open and principal will be there or some other senior member of staff.

I'm not doing TY myself but my friend who goes to a different school is the only person in her whole year who didn't get TY. She's considering repeating 5th year so she can be with some of our other friends who got accepted. Thought it was quite funny. :pac:

I'd be freaked not to get in if all my friends did.

Glad everyone does it in my school.

We had a very similar situation in our school, I really don't see how it's funny though, it's hard on that person and their friends too..
