The Harddrive will be rebuilt

I just turned on my PS3, and a message came up saying "The harddrive will be rebuilt" and below that there was a "timeline" to show the progress after about thirty seconds the screen went blank, it's been like that for about half a hour.
The power light is green, wifi light is green but the harddrive light isn't showing anything.

It's only about four months old, 320 GB with I'd say about 20 to 30 GBs of data on it and has hardly any use.

Can anybody tell me what's going on? ie should I be worried or will it just take a while to rebuild?

    Thanks in advance folks

    is it knackered

apologies, it said the hard drives database will be rebuilt

To be honest I'd literally only posted it for sale on adverts, if it's knackered, I'd push like hell for a refund.

No, it was doing nothing for ages, I could hear the fan but couldn't hear the drive itself, so I unplugged it, then restarted it. It gave the same message this time around but actually fixed itself and is fine again.

Oh yeah, trying to sell it so if you know anyone interested it's on adverts.ie
