Just did a lot of shopping around for my insurance renewal, and bestquote.ie have given me a pretty competitive quote. It looks like it has all the stuff I should be looking for, unless I've missed anything?
This is for Comprehensive cover, and includes the following:
    • Unlimited Windscreen Cover
    • 24-hour Roadside Assistance
    • €350.00 excess
    • Full Bonus Protection allowing 2 unlimited claims in 3 years and No Claims Bonus wouldn’t be affected
    • Policyholder has Comprehensive driving of other cars up to a 2.5litre and maximum value €50000.

I don't have my current policy to hand to compare it to.

Courtesy car cover, particularly if you rely on your car to get to and from work.
Depending on what you want you might also look at legal expenses, personal injury cover, replacement key cover and open drive for other people driving your car.

Thanks for that - I'll check if that's in my current policy.

Also check to see if they charge if you have to do a temp transfer or change any policy details

    Legal expenses cover

VERY IMPORTANT and worth it if you need it
I bought a good policy with the AA yesterday so check them out. Cheapest I could get even though I had to pay extra for AA breakdown assist

I was going to say that but I think Bestquote include that as standard in the price. We had it last year and it came in very handy...

That's great info, thanks a mil. Just got a quote from the AA; they're not bad value either.

I really need to follow my own advice from every other insurance thread and just ring them all up one by one.

Off topic - just worked out that my premium is exactly 16% of what I was paying on a 1.1 car 11 years ago!

    Did you call them?

I found they could be bargained with.....

I got them to drop the quote by 100e and then I purchased breakdown assist for 81e;)

Nope, just did it now online - I will ring around properly next week; just wanted to have a complete list of all the benefits I should be looking for.

Don't forget to try some brokers.

It was the AA who bet mine but everyone else was more expensive

Absolutely - well worth taking an hour or two to do the rounds!

Thanks all for the suggestions - I got the booklet with all the details, and the new policy covers the personal injury, legal cover, courtesy car etc.

The differences between it and my current policy is that my cover on other peoples cars will now be fully comp (not just 3rd party). I still have a two claim limit in a two year period before I lose my NCB, but it's not capped this time.
