White filling ...

    Hey,

I just want a little bit of advice, I just made an appointment with my dentist because I have an exposed silver filling on a premolar, and I want to cover it for aesthetic reasons (I've been paranoid about it since teens!). I was talking to my dentist and he said there is no need for a crown just yet but replacing/covering the filling with a white alternative should solve the problem.

Anyway, my question is to anyone who may have got this done before .... what was your opinion and did it work for you ? Does the dentist cover the silver with the white cap or remove the silver filling completely?

Sorry for the uneducated questions ...i'm clueless :o

    Thanks for reading x

the silver filling should be removed completely if the appearance bugs you, otherwise it can appear like a shadow under the filling, which would only get darker with time.

yes my friend had it done, it looks great. entire dark filing removed and white ones put in. no problems, would love to get this done soon. she paid €70/tooth, well worth it imo. also dont like idea of mercury being in my mouth:D
