    Hi,
I'm getting a civil partnership in September and want to get a band for a party afterwards. It isnt a traditional wedding so we don't want waltzes or any of that craic. Just a good rock band with a decent singer. Does anyone know of a decent cover band in Galway that they could recommend, the less 'weddingy' the better, if you get me.
    Thanks a million!

Awful website, but the band themselves are excellent. Never seen them at a wedding, but I've heard them a few times in the Quays and they're been excellent.

If you are looking for a rock band check out my hubbies, www.thesoundcircus.com they only do weddings for people specifically looking for a rock band. What date are you looking for? Just to make sure they are actually free on the day.

Bluemoose are fantastic. Primarily rock but the do all sorts of covers and put on a brill show. Based in Wexford but travel all over Ireland for gigs/ weddings as far as I know.

Genuinely the best cover band I have ever heard. Worth a listen :D

Check out The Danger Mice. They played at the Irish Veterinary Nurses congress and were brilliant. Sounds like just what you're looking for. And not too expensive either ;)

They do band and DJ after, and kept the music going until the hotel made us stop in the wee hours. Great entertainment!!

+1 Pyramid are really excellent, great music, they really listen to what the couple want and really get the crowd out on the floor, both old and young rockers alike :-)

Get out and see them play....they are busy so book them quick if you like them.

We had Amazing Apples - I think they play the likes of The Kings Head and Fibbers quite a bit - a serious pub band along the lines of Mumford and Sons... nothing weddingy at all but absolutely fantastic. We only had 50-60 guests but they had everyone up dancing.

You can hear some of their live stuff on facebook!

Oh dear, I don't know. We did plenty of research, you tube, google, myspace, etc. and nobody else seemed to even come close to what we were looking for. How about you start crawling the pubs on Saturday nights and speak to the bands?:)

Big Generator - great Galway (Portumna) Band. These guys rock better than most of the acts they cover! and no, I'm not affiliated with the band.
