    Hi All,

I'm trying to find out if there's an acceptable method for closing out a cavity around say a window without resprting to using a proprietry cavity closer. Is it possible to use strips of insulation to fill the cavity (100 mm in my case) and do something with damp proof coursing plastic to prevent moisture problems?

    Thanks,

    Oisin

Yes absolutely. This is how I did my house. Vertical DPC behind outer skin,100mm strips of kinspan to fill the cavity. Dot and dab plasterboard to cover insulation/reveal . Skim. Job done
