    Hey,

I was thinking of getting a laser hair removal or IPL machine. It costs hundreds to get the treatment in a salon but I saw the machines for sale in Boots for under €500. (link: ttp://www.boots.com/en/Toiletries/Female-Hair-Removal/) I'm just wondering if anyone has bought one of these and if so are they any use?

    Thanks.

I saw a review of it on youtube awhile ago and a girl was very disappointed with it and the fact that she had spent a few hundred euro on it. I just looked for it for you but I can't find it but I'm sure you could find other reviews that would give you an idea of it's effectiveness.

I know you're probably looking for a permanent solution but I recently bought a Braun Silk Epil the newest one and I find it fantastic. It was pretty expensive too I think it usually sells for about 160ish in Boots but I used a coupon that was sent out in the post with the advantage card for some money off. I have nothing but great things to say about it! Smooth legs for about a month is a pretty amazing change from stubble every two days. I use it on my underarms as well and it's effective. It's not permanent though which is probably what you're looking for but if you wanted to consider another option I'd highly recommend it :)

Thanks for that Victoria, I'll look into the Silk Epil too, is it painful? I've heard the first few times it's really sore. I'd really like a permanent removal but it's so expensive to get underarms and legs done so I thought I'd look into the home use ones. I'll look for other reviews too.

Curlzy, the boots website has loads of reviews for the older model one, mostly good reviews too! http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Smooth-Skin-Intense-Pulsed-Light-permanent-hair-reduction_117122/

Yep it was very painful I'd say the first and second time but after that it was fine :) Around the ankles was the most sore but I'm delighted with the results so persevering. The difference even in the regrowth is great, it's much more fine and blonder than the stubble you get after shaving and a lot less noticeable.

Another thing actually for the home thing if you decide to get it, the best candidate for laser hair removal would have pale skin and dark hair I believe.

My local salon has a 50% off IPL going at the minute and it has me thinking about it again. I have very dark hair and underarms especially is a complete nightmare. Would absolutely love a long term solution. Was looking at those Silk Epil as well and they seem good too. Dark hair is a curse!! The only thing I've ever heard about home IPL machines is that they aren't very strong and that the results aren't as good as a salon, but surely IPL is IPL regardless? If its a weaker strength it might take longer to get the same results but would you not get the same results eventually?
