Skoda Octavia '99 1.6 Engine (cam) timing

So just to find out how it is done I am putting back together the head off 1.6 AKL engine code Skoda Octavia after a head gasket blew. The problem is that any references to the timing of the crank with the camshaft has not been kept (I inherited the job.) So how does one set up the timing and is there special equipment needed?
I have the head back on and need to get the crank and cam shafts in the right position to put on timing belt.
The crank and the cam are roughly in the correct positions but I need to get the crank to TDC and cannot see any markings on the pulley to do it. The cam shaft pulley has a mark that I believe is TDC. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    No special tools needed.

Thanks for that Fingers, however it seems to be a different engine to mine. My tensioner is below Camshaft sprocket and it refers to that engine as AEE. Mine is AKL. Does your Autodata CD have one with AKL engine code? Sorry for being a pain.

theres a tdc mark on the camshaft sprocket that aligns with a mark on the back of the belt cover.
theres a mark on the crankshaft pulley that aligns with a mark on the back of the belt cover.
if the pulley is already removed you can remove the flywheel inspection cover and align the marks on the flywheel with the mark on the casing.
