Two I watched recently for the first time are Dambusters - excellent film! Watch it now before the Peter Jackson remake comes out so you can sneer at it from on high :pac:

Das Boot. Amazing film, one of the best films i've ever seen. It's a long one (the version i watched was 3:20!) but one of the best suspense thrillers I've ever seen. Awesome!

The Battle of Britain is also very enjoyable, full of chippy little Brits old boy.

Take a look at 633 Squadron and see how many things you can spot that George Lucas recycled in the attack on the Death Star.

Ice Cold in Alex is well worth watching, especially when you consider when it was made.

What about Cold War films? Personally I reckon the Hunt for Red October is the shizz.

Band of Brothers , without a doubt the best TV programme series dealing with WW2. But then i am a wee bit biased !

    Most of the above are good films But i would include these as well;

Attack....................... due to be on TCM tomorrow !
    Appointment in London
    Angels one five
    633 Squadron.....
just for the flying and the Mosquitos!
    Midway
    Toro, Toro, Toro
    Battleground....
I know that some of the 101st Vets who fought at Bastogne thought this was almost too realistic back when it came out in '49

Hamburger Hill or Lawrence of Arabia depends on what type of film your into.

To me that's like saying 'The Graduate' is a romantic comedy.

I think the OP has enough suggestions. List threads are against charter.

If anyone wants to discuss war films, feel free to start a thread. Just don't start it with "give me a list", etc.

    Locked.
