I'm just after watching health of the nation, go to your GP and get checked out, shoulder pain could mean heart issues...
    best to be safe

(might be nothing, but get it checked out)

Like with any exercise your best bet before beginning is to see your doctor to get some advice.

The pain really could be anything - but better safe than sorry. Make sure you describe it clearly to your doc. Who knows they may tell you it is nothing or send you to a physio or even suggest something else.

But arm/shoulder pain should be looked at if you are starting out.
