Does this sound too desperate?

I'm applying for a job I really want.

Should I include the following line at the end of my cover letter:

"I am willing to be flexible with regards to hours and adaptable to suit the company's needs at all times"

The company did not ask for this as a prerequisite but its one of those jobs where going the extra mile may be required. I am more than willing to do this, but should I state it

Can't see the harm in it myself.

Maybe they would appreciate it, do you know if the job would require you to be flexible?

+1 . I cannot see the harm and it may indeed prove valuable should it be a job where flexibility may be required.

I'd include it, but re-word it. It doesn't read quite right, and it could probably be toned down a little.

I'd say something along the lines that you're very adaptable and enjoy new challenges, and that you're flexible with regard to working hours ... however, I think that saying you can suit the company's needs "at all times" is a step too far! Besides which, literally taken, it's obviously untrue - not something I'd be impressed with if I were a recruiter!

only say it if you mean it, even then, expectations may be different when it comes to flexibility

Its a care facility, in my opinion not the type of job that you can just walk out the door at 5pm and forget about until the next day. Dedication and commitment are required. Flexibility would be a huge benefit to them, I'm sure. I want to try to convey this without scaring them off :D

It's the kind of economic climate where some employers will try to take advantage of people...always be aware of your employment rights

Yes, great advice everyone - "at all times" sounds demonic. I certainly do mean it but I will reword and tone it down. Thanks again!

    NO!!

No matter how bad the economy is, employers want strength of character. Sit the interview, don't suck ass, and afterwards drop off a thank-you letter to the receptionist, addressed to those who interviewed you. Then go for a pint.
Ever get laid when you're desperate? Nah!
You won't get a job if you smell like you're begging either.

i would say definitely leave it in but toned down as suggested.. ive 10years experience working in this area.. one of the main things they tend to look for is flexibility and that you can be available at short notice and at any time (if its residential) so referring to being flexible will definitely interest them i would say. good luck with it. :)
