    Hey All,

I am wondering if a fetac level 6 award would be good enough to get a job or internship ?

    Cheers

Depends on what you have and what you want at the end of the day. Fetac 5 is the highest level in some fields (I just finished one in Healthcare Support)

hi i did the same course so can answer this , yes is the short answer , the long one is you have to have every thing in order for people to take you in , people in my class found that every one was asked for , proof of being on the course, garda vetting (this is iffy if your collage is not on the ball in getting this done ontime) , insurence (provided by the collage) , alot of places want you because you are free labour. one thing you need to do is arrange it as far in advance as you can because alot of places have limits on how many work experience people they have at anyone time ,

Arranging it far in advance is a good idea, but you may not have the insurance and Garda Vetting before you actually enrol on the course. The delay in GV is down to Templemore being snowed under, not the college not 'being on the ball'.

It's absolutely shocking, isn't it? I co-ordinate a Childcare course and we are told every year that we can't send off GV forms until students enrol on the course, not a second before. We (the centre) and the VEC send them off immediately, but every centre in the country is doing the same thing at the same time and Templemore can't cope. It's even worse for Pre-Nursing where NO employer will take students without GV; at least some Childcare providers will.

No one would take us with out it either (fair enough we where going to nursing homes) but what i dont get is you can buypass waiting for the gv with employers by getting a form filled out by the garda and stamped by a notirey (sorry about the spelling) but the insurence for students insists on the gv comming back. one of my cousins ran the same course i did for another center where gv had to come back before anyone was allowed on the course it's common sence with such waiting times
