I am looking for some information from anyone who has completed the above course in WIT.

My undergraduate degree is not in computers and I have basic knowledge of computers from day to day using and having an ECDL so am a bit worried this might be too technical coming from a different backround.

So if anyone could give me info on the course itself, what is involved project wise etc it be greatly appreciated.

I know a girl who came from the Business course in WIT and she passed the course just fine. I think you'd be fine. You will participate in some programming modules iirc but I don't think they are too intense. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I'm studying the BSc in Applied Computing and everything is taught from the basics. No prior knowledge of computers is required. They even gave us a class on turning on computers, logging in and sending emails :D

Any information is helpful so thanks for replying. Always find it is better to talk to someone who has done course in order to get a good feel so it. So think I am going to go ahead and apply for it.
Just have to start work on a personal statement now. Which probably be harder than course itself!!!!

The course it tough. started off with simple things like making a tax calculator java program. Then it went on to making graphical user interfaces in java and some very hard java programs. The final year project(normally known as thesis from non computing backgrounds) was to make a shopping cart website like ebay or amazon using PHP and mySql and had to learn these ourselves from scratch. If your interested in becoming a programmer do the course. If your interested in IT such as configuring PC's to work on networks, setting up networks and maintaining them for a company do an IT course(100 times easier). hope that helps.
P.S Download or buy a beginners java book. Spend a while at it and see if you like it

I'm in 4th year of that course and we did nothing of the sort, if you intend on making it past 3rd year I would advise that you put in a lot of work in the first and second year.

Prior knowledge is not necessary but it will help you a lot.

Yep that is one. It is meant to be for graduates who come from a non technical / IT backround.

What did this girl think of the course overall, difficulty, etc and is it worth doing. I have been out of work for about 20 months and as job are scarce on the ground I am thinking a year back in college to get another qualification may be the way to go.
