Canon 60D not reading memory card!

I 'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem.

I put a memory card into the camera and for some reason it won't read the card. I then tried another card and same problem.

I also notice that the card is difficult to put in and take out. It's almost as if there is something stuck in the slot but I checked and there doesn't seem to be.

It looks like my camera is broken and will have to be sent to Canon for repair. How long does that take actually?

Pretty annoyed because I need it for this weekend.

I've actually noticed the push-pull mechanism in the memory card slot is a little stiff at times. If you don't give it a sharp tap to eject it, it rarely springs out far enough to get a good hold of.

Have a look inside. See if you notice if any of the pins are damaged.

Hopefully the mechanism is just very stiff, and the card is not fully connecting. It might need a little more pressure (once you're positive it's going in the right way, and no pins are damaged).

    Best of luck.

No matter how hard I push (don't want to break it) I'm not getting any click reponse saying the card is inserted correctly

If the camera is new and/or under warranty, send it back to where you bought it from.

They can test/check/verify and arrange for service or replacement, as necessary.

I noticed on the very top of the memory card I was using this is a tiny bit broken off. I'm guessing that is blocking access.

I eventually got another memory card to work although it took a lot of pressure.

I think it's something I'm gonna have to get fixed eventually but for now I think I'm safe

    Thanks for the suggestions

Crap it's not recognising the card anymore. :(

Stop putting in anymore cards, I would suggest that one of the pins is bent or broken at this stage. Have you an illuminated magnifying glass to look inside the card holder ?
    Sorry to hear this happened.

Looks like damaged contact pins or a problem with the locking mechanism.
Either way, it will need to go back for warranty repair or replacement.
You may as well do it now. Even if it works intermittently, Murphy's law
dictates that it will stop working at the worst possible time.

Did you get it from a camera shop? They might be able to give
you a camera to use until yours is repaired or replaced.
