    Hi all

I am in bad need of all your car related things knowledge, we have a 2001 Alfa 156 1.6 in the household and for the first time ever in the 8 years we have it, it has broken, The Potentiometer or electronic throttle control unit has gone caput and a replacement is 650euro excluding VAT.

I was just wondering would any of you have a contact to somebody or someone breaking an Alfa 156 that might have one, either here or the UK?

Genuinely do appreciate all comments and any help given.

I'd say get the phonebook out and start ringing scrap yards. Did you check ebay?

Have a read of a few of these threads... apparently there is connection that can get loose that's worth checking. (this guy http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/attachments/alfa-gtv-and-916-spider/81754d1260489112-new-owner-gtv-3-0-24v-v6-probs-already-untitled.jpg)

Are you 100% sure it's failed? They sometimes need to be re-calibrated. Ther is a butterfly / throttle body calibration procedure that can be done using "Examiner" or 3rd party diag gear.

Try ebspares in the uk. Google them. Theyre great for alfa parts.

If you go onto Alfa156.net, there's a section in there called Buy and Sell and a guy called TheLunchCrasher is breaking a 156 at the moment - in fact its going to the scrapper tomorrow. If you move quickly, he might have what you want. If not PM me and I've a friend who might be able to help you. ;)

That's great to hear! And cheers for letting us know how you got on. Far too often people never post back to let us know how they got on!
