Cyclists have a unique opportunity to meet and cycle with 3 time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond when he takes part in the 2011 Get BACk Challenge on July 2nd from Limerick to Doonbeg. A limited number of places are available for individuals or for teams of five from businesses or clubs / organisations. The Irish Paralympic cycling squad will also take part in the event.

Participants are asked to raise €150 each for the event which means a team of five from business can take part for a €750 contribution or amount raised from fundraising. In addition to the chance to cycle with sports legend Greg LeMond, cyclists will receive an 2011 cycling jersey. Registration for the event is €50 per cyclist. This includes jersey, on route refreshments, post event BBQ and entertainment in Doonbeg Golf Resort.

The Get BACk Challenge raises funds for health, activity and obesity interventions for socially disadvantaged children and contributes to Hospice Care.

Full event details on the event are featured on the www.getbackchallenge.com website.

The same comment is always directed at Roche.

When you win the Worlds and a TDF (and all the other things) you are allowed a few extra cakes. In fact you should be allowed all the cakes.

I did this last year and he didn't seem to even break sweat despite him not looking like a pro rider. Challenge him to a race.

Indeed. He chatted freely with people along the way, before and after, whereas with my local club some riders complained about the talking on a Saturday spin as meaning you weren't being serious enough (it wasn't Captain Havoc though).

I'd really like to participate in an event like this. But 50 Euros as well as the travelling expense of getting there is just a little too much for me!
