    Hi guys,

    As per title...

    1. Will a normally functioning battery last the whole day with heavy usage?
    2. Is there an app that lets you ring other iphone users anywhere in the world for free? I've heard this a few times. I'm in Korea, does it matter where you are? If the app is Irish, can I download it here?
    3. Are most practical apps like maps, subway maps etc free or do you have to pay for them?
    4. Watching movies - if I have movies on my laptop, how do I convert them to play on the iphone?
    5. Same question for music.
    6. Do you get earphones with the phone?
    7. Does it take long to get used to the keyboard type userface?
    8. Is it possible to text with one hand?
    9. How long would a battery last if watching movies? 1 movie, 2 movies?
    10. I'll be with a Korean phone company so they more than likely won't have a roaming agreement with any Irish company. Though not connected to a network in Ireland, can I still turn on my iphone in a wireless area and use the internet?

    Thanks for reading.

    Thanks for that drunkmonkey.

Just regarding that app that allows calling people for free. Are there any catches or is it really as simple as that?

And can I download that in Korea?

Finally, is it really worth getting, the iphone? What sets it apart from other phones?

    Thanks again.

if viber fail, there is always skype.

Viber only works with other people that have viber, not a huge issue, but at least you know. It's free, and you use your mobile number as your user ID, so it'll scan your contacts and tell you who has viber also. it can also be used to send free texts, again to viber users only. For non viber users there is eirtext, developed by a boardsie, which uses your web text allowance to send texts for almost free (ie it uses data, but a negligible amount)

Like someone already mentioned there's Skype as well, or FaceTime in a wifi area (iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 only)

You can use a free program available online called handbrake to convert your movies. iTunes will pull your music and sync it with the iPhone. If it's in wma format iTunes will convert it.

As for apps available in Korea it's hard to know, but if you've an Irish credit card, you'll have to set up an Irish iTunes account, Korean card = Korean account.

Great info guys, thanks a million.

Regarding itunes, what aspect of it do I have to pay for? I'm not interested in downloading music through itunes, so what do I need a credit card for? The apps? I thought the apps store was separate to itunes, no?

So viber will continue to work into the future? How will the phone companies tolerate that? What if everyone who has an iphone eventually has viber? The companies will make less money surely?

Thanks again. Total newbie re iphones.

iTunes is used to manage everything to do with your iPhone - apps, music, video, photos. From it, you can access the App Store, the music store and the video store. You do not need a credit card, unless you want to purchase something. You can setup an iTunes account without a credit card.

Think about all the people in the world who have iPhones. The vast majority of them will never hear of Viber, hence they will continue using regular calls. It's just another data using app to them. Has Skype stopped people making regular calls?

Personally, I only became aware of Viber in the last couple of weeks and I've had an iPhone since 2008.

Hey fox. The best deal I've found is 46 euro per month. That's for 300 minutes and 300 texts.

    Some more questions guys...

    1. If I decide against an iphone and decide to get something like the Htc Sensation or Samsung Galaxy instead is there any program like viber that facilitates free calls to an iphone from one of them models?

    2. How difficult is it to get an iphone unlocked?

    3. Is itunes easy to use with regard to putting music and movies on the iphone?

    4. What's data tethering?

    Thanks.
