Looking at an evo 9 fq320 for the next car but i'm wondering how to go about getting it insured at my age. I don't expect it to be cheap but will i even get a quote?

I have a current policy open with Aviva but it has only 1 month left, i've recieved my renewal for my current car already.

Will they refuse to insure it at my renewal next month if i get one and switch it over in the next week or so?

Is their any companies that specialise in these type of cars or does ringing up and saying you've already bought the car and demanding a quote still work?

I'm 21 have 4 years no claims and a full clean driving licence for 3 years.

    Any help would be great....

your only option is to get the phonebook out and ring them all, every insurance company in the land!

more than likely, the only place that will touch you is XS Direct.

Britton insurance probably your best bet.

As has already been said, ring every single insurance company! You will find it hard to get a quote on an Evo 9 at your age, and if you do get a quote, it won't be a nice one :(

i was paying 990e with XS Direct for my Evo 5 when i was 25 with full NCB, just to give you an idea, and that included a 2k excess

Expect anything up too 6k excess on top of anything up too 2k a year if anyone will touch you at your age, if you crash your screwed.

    just transfer the insurance

    ...and then what?

    ...and then what?

Transferring insurance from existing car onto newer, riskier, car usually gets you a more favourable quote than a new customer looking for a quote.

OP, you're too young for XSDirect (think they're 24 or 25) so I wouldn't even entertain the idea of an EVO at your age to be totally honest.

I'd say you'd be looking at at least 3500. I hope I'm wrong obviously!

    I couldn't find a quote under 3000 for a 350Z or an E46 M3 and I'm 25 with 4NCB.

    I'm not sure that's correct.

OP will have a huge premium on that sort of car. Many insurers would make it prohibitive and that assumes they'd be prepared to quote.

It is. If you're not currently insured and you ring around looking for quotes on an Evo at 21, most will tell you to take a hike.

However, if you're with a company and you're insured on, say, a Fiesta, and you say you've just bought (or placed a deposit on) an Evo, they will give you a quote. They have to. As you say, it will be a huge premium but they still have to quote you.
