Ryanair vs Surly

My trusty steel-framed Surly has survived touring in US, UK & Europe but could not survive one encounter with Ryanair. LBS just reported that frame bent almost an inch (seems to be rear forks). They couldn't sort it - didn't have a jig that could do it.

Two questions I'm hoping for some help with...

    - anyone know where I can get the frame realigned?
    - anyone know whether there's anyway of getting compo from Ryanair or is it a complete waste of time?

    Thanks in advance

Not sure to be honest on your questions.

Did you pack/box/bag the bike or just wheel it up to check-in?

Strange as it may be to say something positive about Ryanair, from what I gather they are surprisingly one of the better airlines for transporting bikes. Was thinking of taking my bike to Spain during August on Ryanair. Would be interested to know how you packed bike.

I'd say ruinair won't even give you the time of day. Their customer service is woeful at the best of times.
I will only ever use them as a total last resort.
sorry, cant help with your frame dilemma

I once lost luggage. You have to report such things at the carousal, where there is a little office for missing luggage.

I expect its the same for damage caused. When did it happen. Time erodes your rights.

Your spelling mistake gave me a chuckle*.

    ca·rous·al (k-rouzl)
    n.
    1. A riotous drinking party.
    2. Boisterous drunken merrymaking or revelry.

    I'd like to work there.

    (*I'm awfully bored.)

Anyways its ryanair, its your own fault for booking with them. You shouldn't expect them not to break your bike at those prices.

    Only messing. I hate Ryanair.

Which probably explains why my luggage got lost.

Unfortunately I missed the 7 days as thought it was just the outer chain-ring that was bent - by the time I'd bought one, put it on, then worked out that wasn't the answer, went to the LBS, etc..... reckon I'd be relying on EU rights or some such anyway....

@jam_on_toast - bike was bubble-wrapped, then wrapped in cardboard, then put in a bag....
