    Lo All,
I was wondering how different is mountain bike sizing to road bike?

I have asked a few different fellas, some have told me to keep to the same size and some have said go smaller.

My road bike is a 60cm frame. Is there an equivalent MTB size or will I just have to try out different bikes?

    thanks in advance

    Eoin

They go in inches. I ride a 55ish cm road bike and a 18" MTB.

    You probaby want a 20" or 22" if you ride a 60cm.

Here's a comparison of cube mountain and road bike sizes, for a 60 cube road bike that would translate to a 19"/20"

It depends on what you are using the mtb for. If its for off-road you'll want it to be small & nimble, but if not you may like the extra size for comfort.

    Thanks lads.

I will be using it off-road as the Ballyhoura is less than 20mins from me.

    Most appreciated.

We were down there a few weeks ago and got 1 rental off a local company. 30 quid for the day. They were real sound about the drop and pick up times.

You could rent one and see how it fits.

Most of the big MTB manufacturers use S,M,L etc and they usually publish the geometry measurements on their sites.

Thanks Petethedrummer. I was thinking about that recently so if I get a chance in the next week or two I will run up and give it a go.

    Thanks again
