    Hi All,

My Passat 1.9 TDI has 85K miles on it now hoping to get Timing belt done sooner. Can someone please advice on cost and good independent garage in Dublin 15 or around? I checked one independent garage near coolmine and got a quote of 400 euros.

    Thank you.

I wouldnt say that was too high. A mate of mine paid €700 for an A4 1.9TDI belt replacement (same engine) at a main dealers.

If you have 85k miles I would do it ASAP.. the interval is 60k miles afaik

Belt, tenioners and water pump - €400 is bang on.

The year of the passat makes a huge difference to the price.

On the latest B6 passat we'd be charging about €350 for full kit with water pump, however on the B5 passat you'd be looking at between €450-€500 as there is vastly more labour involved.

I have 03 passat. 1.9 TDI. so its B5.5. should be around 350-400?

The B5.5 is a B5 with different headlights. So the price should be in the price region that I mentioned above.

Most of the front of the car has to be removed to access the timing belt.
