hey guys, looking for a rough price on travelling.

were planning to drive from ireland to bulgaria last week in july.
    3 people, splitting all costs.

just looking for costs for petrol only.

    its just over 3,000 KM.

most of the route is motorways.

Find your cars' MPG or L/100km

    Guestimate the €/litre figure

    Multiply the two.

If your car did 8L per 100km (35mpg) then you would need (3000/100 * 8) which is 240 L of fuel. At €1.50 per litre that's around €360.

sorry, i always forget to say what type of car it is.

    its a 1.6 lancer.
driving style, very very relaxed and easy on acceleration. never over 100kmph.

If I was you, according to google maps:linky The Nurbergring is only a 40km detour.

Make sure you include a few extra quid for petrol and admission to the ring for a few laps :D:D:D:D

Keep in mind that with 3 people and accompanying luggage economy will be noticeably worse.

1.6 Lancer petrol is fairly underpowered as well.

Your original 140e each sounds about right to me Royal, if not more.

another tip is to route yourself through luxembourg and fill her to the brim of cheap petrol there. Its not going out of your way but could save a right amount compared to filling up in Germany. Anything up to 15c a litre between Lux prices and German motorway prices.
(take the B10 from Saarbrucken toward Karlsruhe rather than the motorway as its much shorter than the autobahn for that stretch and a grand road in itsself)

And when in Austria nip off the motorway to a nearby village to fill up as there can be 10c a litre difference between the motorway and offline (at easter 1.45 offline compared to 1.55 online), not to mention grub being much cheaper if not also tastier in a village inn than the motorway stations. The motorways and villages in austria mostly built in narrow valleys so theres no distance from the junctions to the nearest town.

Google Maps (Dublin -> Sofia) says that the estimated fuel cost is €400 + Tolls each way. I know it's not taking an exact MPG figue, but does it vary the fuel price according to country?

The drivers right foot would have much more influence on cost then local fuel prices. It's just a rough estimate.

    thanks for the advice guys,

i like the idea of dropping into the nurbergring and going near karlshru baden as my brother lives there. might be somewhere to crash for the night.
