folks flywheel is going in my 07 pajero 3.2 jeep, jeep is going away for the moment but for a good while now it makes a horrible shudder when you start it, not on the first start of the day but on subsequent starts when she is warmed up.. Ive been told its the flywheel anyway, im a bit mechanically challenged myself. jeep has about 75000 miles up only and the master and slave cylinder both went while under warranty..a bit sh1t really.
anyway replacing dmf seems like a very expensive job but i see lots of lads advertising solid flywheel conversion kits..have been looking all over web and cant seem to get much info on it, some lads say the solid conversion works fine, other say it bad and makes jeep very noisey. has anyone put a solid flywheel in curent model pajero and how did you work out with it or what do people recommend, Ive a feeling im as well off to put in the new dmf but sure will that go again after another few years, have no intention of changing jeep any time soon so want whatever goes in to last
    thanks for any info

DMF flywheel clutch kit listed on Milners at £1080!! They are usually the cheapest. http://www.milneroffroad.com/categories.asp?cID=12137

Rakeway in the UK do billet flywheels. On transits and Land Rovers you get a bit of chatter at idle but make no difference otherwise apparently. http://www.rakeway.co.uk/page28.html

I wouldn't be unduly worried about vibration on startup. Mine has always done that and I replaced the DMF at 88K miles. (127K up on her now) Wait until you start getting vibration when accelerating between 1000 and 2000 revs in 4th or 5th gear before you start thinking of replacing it.
Anyway, I've been going through the same thought process as you re the durability of the replacement DMF. If mine is going to call it a day at 170K miles, it won't be worth keeping the jeep in the long term. All in all, a potentially frustating outcome after shelling out 3 grand the last time. The whole DMF issue really pi$$es me off actually.

took the plunge yesterday and bought the flywheel and clutch kit from an ebay trader, just under 1200 euro for kit
priced it thru a few mechanics and from local auto parts place and the kit was coming in around 1600, these guys have high positive feedback so not cowboys i reckon, the flywheel is their own and they are telling me it has a no quibble lifetime warranty. anyway hopefully it works out, the clutch kit etc is exedy brand. a few people lately told me avoid the solid flywheel, a mechanic and a supplier with tales of them being taken out again so figured it wasnt worth taking a chance on.. but ya the dmf issue is ridiculous

    Hi vanderbadger,

How did you get on with the new clutch?
Thinking of buying an 07 SWB 3.2.
Did you have any other issues with your jeep?
