The Oireachtas has passed comprehensive tobacco control laws known as the Public Health (Tobacco) Act, 2002 and the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004. These Acts include provisions to: increase prohibitions on tobacco advertising and sponsorship; restrict the marketing and sale of tobacco; provide for mandatory health warnings and restrict labelling; and provide for prohibitions on smoking tobacco products.
