Playing in the JB on Saturday here, and due to work commitments I missed the practice round last night. It's been a few years since I played it, and there's no course guide on the website (AFAICS). Anybody any views/tips on the course? Secondly, given the GUI approved DMD's this year, I presume I can use my golf buddy in the comp?

Stay out of the bunkers on 1. Right rough is okay. 20 yards short of the green there's a water trap running along the entire front. If in doubt with approach, lay up

2 is straightforward. 3 can be tricky. Huge sloping green, short right presents a tough up and down.

4 fairway slopes right, the correct line off tee is all the way down the left as you look on but there is a bunker in play. Fairway is huge so anything right or wide right is fine, rough isn't penal. Approach difficult. Water bottom right bunkers on left. Green plays up hill from front, water hazard on right hand side of green too.

5 aim for bunkers off tee. Approach shot to narrow green, water on left and wide right. path beyond the green. Short is good.

6 par 5. left of right bunker is the line but anything left of that trap is fine. pretty straightforward hole thereafter

7 green guarded by bunkers, approach shot left will be a testing up and down. accuracy required

8 par 5. Drive right into rough isn't disastrous. Ideally left of righthand side fairway bunker is the line. Second shot, keep the ball up the right hand side. Long narrow green that slopes uphill. Nasty sand trap on the left hand side of green, do not go there!

9 long par 3 (depending on the wind direction). Out of bounds up the right hand side. Short is good.

10 straightforward as is 11. Anything wide right on 11 is okay. 12 will test short game. Tricky green.

13 not as difficult as the index suggests. 14 any long wayward drive is okay. If approach is playing long and from the right hand side do not attempt to go directly at the green. Play to the run of the fairway.

15 short par 3. Left presents difficult up and down. Accuracy required.

16 Drive to the right hand side. Approach to the left hand side of the green. Very tricky green

17 Play to the left of the green, the more left the better (you won't think when you look on but trust me!)

18 zig zag fairway. Stay out of right rough all the way down and you are okay. Tough green to hold and putt

    Good luck ;)

Yes you can use the Golf Buddy or whatever you have as long as its not an iphone app or something which is not allowed. I used the Golf Buddy in the Metro. The GUi rule would overrule any local rule that bans DMD's.
