Going over myself and plan to couchsurf with a few mates in Auckland, Wellington and Rotorua.....will be chancing my arm for accomodation in the other places.

Word of warning - sleeping on the street in Auckland a better option than staying in the Nomads

Stayed there a couple of times as hostels around Auckland were booked out. Bed had fleas....some of the bed linen hadn't been washed, showers are only on 1 floor (of a 7 floor building) and weren't cleaned in the week I spent there, bar in the basement goes til all hours....communal areas for cooking etc aren't kept well. They empty the bottles out of the bins every morning @ c.6am (i was woken up by this even when wearing ear plugs).

I've stayed in hostels all over NZ & Oz and this ranks as the worst by a country mile. Assume you're talking about the Nomads Fat Camel joint....I think there might be another Nomads in Auckland (might be confusing it with Wellington) which is kosher enough.

mannequinhands, Oh gosh I don't know if I could do that. I'm trying to get as much stuff booked up before I get there. Going for 6 weeks, on my own for first 2 weeks and mate coming out for the last 4. Going YHA mostly, few B+B's where I couldn't get YHA.
Having problems with accommodation in Dunedin for the Italy game and Wellington for the QF's. Anyone have a heads up on anything in either of these places.

Anyone taking in any other pool games apart from the Ireland games.
I'm thinking of going to a few as they are on my itinerary route.
One being Tonga V Canada and another Wales V Samoa.
I'd like to go to others but it would either be way too much travel involved or they clash with Ireland games.

There's a useful thread on the Aus/NZ Travel forum: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056002082

Hope it helps. I'm still planning on winning the Euromillions just before it starts and doing the whole thing 5* while I think about how best to spend the rest of it!
