Which do you think is better, the Spectre or an eotech with a magnifier? i am looking at optics for a WE Scar and just want opinions :)

Just by aesthetics... I wouldn't even give the spectre a second glance. Eotech is sexy.

    Which would I choose?

    I vote Atari Jaguar.

Sense would dictate, the optics package that doesnt require extra space, and bolt on crap. Spectre.

    two conflicting opinions,
The eotech is sexy looking but i agree with firekitten about the spectre needing a lot less space and going for the sensible option... possibly a first for me!
    anyone else got an opinion?

Spectre all the way especially if you have the cash for the 1x-4x model. The EoTech is a great sight but is better suited to shorter range engagements, why bother with the magnifier? But let's be honest, it's airsoft we're talking about, either will do the job so it's simply down to aesthetics.

isn't the 1x-4x the "realsteel" version?? any i have seen have been 4x fixed and are still €130+ do you know where the variable one might be available?

There are 1x-4x airsoft versions available. They were only released relatively recently and they're certainly not cheap, but in my view worth it for the versatility. I don't know stocks them, Google is your friend.

Elcan Specter for me! I was tempted to get one recently.
    Also 4x magnification is nice.

Already have an eotech and while the reticle is nifty, they kinda get
boring and common looking and yer always worrying about the large surface
area of glass that could break! Vs what looks like a much tougher piece of glass on an Elcan.

The UK MoD are going for the fixed 4x version with a Doctor sight on top like the ACOG setup they use. There are issues returning to zero between 1-4x settings. So the Specter will effectively be a widescreen style ACOG.

Pick yourself up one of the lens protectors - they just slot into the sight, in front of the glass, and gives you peace of mind. Mine has taken a direct strike, and I'm so happy that I have the protector :)

I Dont use mine for skirmishes anymore as It suffers an issue thats pretty annoying.
(my 2nd Eotech, first one did not work at all)

Mine (and other peoples from reading) turns itself off if there is too much vibration! ie if ya give it a tap/slap it switches off, or if your running about during a skirmish all of a sudden you find its turned off all on its own

Now I've heard people say this is a feature built into it to prevent people
putting it on real steel and using it but my guess is this is utter bollox and an urban airsoft myth. Further proven by the fact that the issue only happens when the reticle is switched to red, but is perfectly fine when the colour is switched to green.
