Theres a free pickup scrappage service that I was going to use, until I heard I could make a couple of hundred quid possibly.

its just the clutch gone, rest fine.

Kilcock Car Dismantlers give 120 per ton at the moment, minus 2€ per tyre.

Got 104 euro for an old Mondeo, after tyres/oil/whatever disposal charges.
    Hegarty's Limerick.

I heard recently that the cat converters on most cars are worth 50 quid alone so anyone cute enough will take these off first and get 100 quid for the car

I heard 40, but yeah - good idea if you have the chance. I didn't have the gear or the time to get the old one off and put a pipe in place instead. And didn't want to chance driving there making that much racket!

For what it's worth, car broke down in Carrick on Shannon last week on way to Dublin.. left the thing up there and tried to arrange scrappage.

Felix Gormley waste disposals in Cavan said they would collect it for free and then give me 120 a tonne. Not a bad deal considering the free collection (Saved me going from dub to carrick anyway)

Sent the cheque down very quick wih cert of destruction too. Good/quick deal.

I would say most places offer 115-120 a tonne, dont think you would do much better

My ex room mate has gone to america and left his Opel Astra 00-D behind. Its needs a bit of work on it to get going again. Poofing out **** loads of white smoke. Would i be better off just scraping the car or selling it for parts.

    Bump !

Have car scrappage prices improved ?

I don't know whether to scrap mine or keep hold til I can sort it. She's a 97 nissan primera 2l petrol. I've a flat tyre (pretty sure it's a puncture so will need replacing), the spare needs replacing too iirc, then her battery has died on me, the battery in the key unlock went (and for some reason I can only open the drivers door using key itself) her headlights are crap but thats a simple job. The biggest problem I have is she needs a new power steering pump. I have been told a new one will cost me 700quid (I am assuming that is just part not labour) and that so far a second hand or the like hasn't been found :(

I am pretty sure that is all that is wrong with her, and she is a lovely comfy drive (even if she is bright orange! - it's a car to get me from a2b, when it works!).

Edited to add: There was also a problem with her milage clock, it seemed to tick over WAY to fast the last couple times I drove her.
