How would prospective employers rate these courses(generally) in comparison to traditional colleges? I have servere reservations given the fact that there is an open access policy. Lack of competition implies less prestige, which equals potentially reduced career prospects.

I am aware the courses are HETAC accredited though. Seems like an interesting and valid option. It's a shame perceptions can ruin potential job offers though. If only everything in this life was based on merit alone. Jobs fo the boys has shown this country up for what it really is.

    Any thoughts?

The OU is rated very highly amonst employers. Also, the fact that they have an open registration policy is irrelevant as regards course work and qualification as in terms of exams etc it is exactly the same as any other university. You do the work, you pass your exams etc you qualify. If not they take your money and off with you - just like any other university.

Yeah, that initial statement was VERY naive on my part. I hear it's acutally harder to get a first with the OU. Looks very solid. It actually looks more daunting than a traditional University. Distance learning requires some serious dedication.
