Bringing Golf Club By Plane From The USA

My cousin is in the States at the moment. He's hoping to buy a second hand driver while he's out there but he doesn't know if he'd have to pay extra to bring it when he's flying home. It'd be in a cardboard box about the length of the club and about the thickness of the driver head. He'll also have his full suitcase as his main luggage so it will be a separate item.

Have any of you brough clubs home this way before and did you have to pay extra for it? He's travelling with British Airways.

He will have to pay the tax on it anyway when he try's to bring it through customs.:(

Sorry second hand driver. Not sure what the deal is with tax and second hand goods?.

Imagine be hard enough get something that resembles a weapon on to a plane in the US. Imagine it would have to be put into the luggage and not carry on.

Thanks, k.p.h. Yes, it'd have to be luggage like a suitcase etc. Too big to carry on.

He's not buying too much more while he's out there so he'll be well within his allowance for Irish Customs and Excise.

I rang British Airways today and the guy told me that it would cost around €45 (not dollars) to put it on the plane, as an extra piece of luggage. I don't think he'll be doing it at that price!
