So I'm thinking about having a BBQ this weekend. So what would you consider necessary for the perfect bbq?

Drinks, food, music etc, any ideas?:)

One of them stove things that you throw wood into, they're great for when the evening wears on into the night. Also, you can get these special yellow candles that keep flies and that away, they're good.

Waterproof gazebo, some fleeces and plenty of nice wine and beer.

A chiminea is a great additon for night time, great heat and really adds to the athmosphere, I also find party lights can take the focus off inclement weather.

pussy!..oh wait this is page 2...

sweet chilli sauce, reggae reggae sauce, ballymaloe relish, fresh bread (french bagette, baps etc), all the usual meats, some type of lantern/candle holder/fire, a gazebo if possible unfortunately, loads of chairs and pussy...

here's a tip: wrap cleaned prawns in tinfoil with a load of garlic butter and just bang on the barby; they're really handy, really tasty, everyone'll think you put loads of effort in and their a great addition as a side!

    and pussy*

    ah has me ruined

Warm weather is usually quite important. So, you're fucked there for a start.

Something we do when having BBQs, did it for the first time with relations in France. I don't know the term for it.

You get a sheet of tinfoil each and have different ingredients - small cubes of lightly boiled potatoes, diced bits of ham, tomatoes, peppers, grated cheese and whatnot, loads of stuff. Everyone takes some of each and piles it up in the middle of their piece of tinfoil and then twists the top to tie it up. Have a sharpie and everyone labels their to avoid mix-up. Leave it on for about 10 mins and let all the flavours in the bag mix together, and when it's done you open it up and scoff away. Sounds a bit weird, but it's beautiful :)

The anti-fly candles contain citronella, you can buy it as an essential oil and burn it in aromatherapy burner.

Have nibbles ready while people wait for barbie. Handy no. is to throw a load of cocktail sossies in the oven (in a dish in tinfoil) cover them with Ballymaloe relish and hand around with cocktail sticks when done.

If you want fancy sossies, wrap them in streaky rashers and cook in oven too.

I always start chicken pieces in the oven and finish on the bbq, to ensure they are cooked through

    From Guinness book of records
"The largest item on any menu in the world is roasted camel, prepared occasionally for Bedouin wedding feasts. Cooked eggs are stuffed into fish, the fish stuffed into cooked chickens, the chickens stuffed into a roasted sheep's carcass and the sheep stuffed into a whole camel

I'm sure a cow or bullock could be substituted for the Camel at short notice

Sunshine would be a nice start I suppose. Those open log burners are excellent and they also keep the bugs away.
