They are an excellent company to work for and they pay very well. I think operator positions are all agency / contractor based now so they are not stable positions and don't have all the benefits that a Medtronic employee would have. For all positions other than contract operators I would say that you won't find much better, for contract operator positions, you could do much worse.

They expect a lot from their staff, but I think that they give a lot in return.

what is the shift pattern at medtronic? will the staff work full time days or does it rotate?

Most shifts are days and evenings and usually you stay on one or the other. Typical shift is 8am to 4pm, 4pm to midnight. There are 4 or 5 buildings with several units in each. Each unit can have their own shift pattern and they try to differ start / finish times to reduce the number of people coming and going at the same time. There can be a gap of about 30 minutes between shifts so the gown up / down areas of the clean rooms don't get too crowded.

+1 A good place to work, with opportunities for advancement for the bright and ambitious.

So you can work up the ladder. How long would you have too wait too go up a step of the ladder. Do they have a place in ny. Just wondering how long would you have too work with them before you ask for a transfer. Would they transfer you too a job over seas if they thought you were a good worker.

What are the holidays like. Many weeks do you get off.

I'v been thinking of going too college lately but I think i'm late applying for anything.

As you are unqualified, the positions open to you would be as an operator. Without at lease some third level education it would be pretty difficult to be taken seriously as a person interested in advancement. No multi-national transfers operators to overseas locations, in general the only positions offered transfers are senior or ones where the cannot hire locally.

Ya, its a good company and the pay and conditions are good. I was recruited from an agency last year.
They offer days, evenings, nights and weekend shifts.

Tbh if you want to 'climb the ladder' you would need to have a further qualification (i.e. a level 7/8/9 qualification), or maybe do an evening course while working there and hope this may benefit you (you would need to fund this yourself, they don't pay people to go to college anymore)

And the only people they transfer are permanent staff (including permanent operators), this usually happens in cases of acquisition of other companies, for a fixed length of time.
