Van Racking Suppliers

Does anyone have info on Van Racking Suppliers? I've done a Google and come up with Sortimo and Bott, both of whom I'm talking to at the moment. Just seriously shocked by the price of the stuff TBH. There must be serious mark up for the manufacturer.

I would appreciate if anyone had info on metal racking suppliers in Ireland (Who also do drawers, not just bins/shelves), not what's on Google as I've pretty much exhausted that avenue.

And before anyone suggests it - I have looked into building it from wood myself, but it's just too heavy for what I want to use it for. :)

I use Towing Equipment in Dublin for fitting stuff like this to vans. Their service is very good, but they can be out on price sometimes. Ask for Neville or Gary.

Another one to check out is Towfit (in Ardee I think). They're usually good on price.

I know you're further down the country so i'm not sure how good this is for you!

What are you using it for as a matter of interest?

Just for my own wagon, but it's not the most elaborate of setups. Just two side walls, 2 drawers, and an open shelf on the top with a flip down front. About 700mm wide, 500 deep, 600 high. In my head I'd thought 300 ish would be a fair price for it. Getting quotes of between 6-700.

I know nothing about this kind of thing, but these lads are around the corner from me and are constantly messing with vans! They also sell some pretty nice cars (Astons, Ferraris, Porsche etc), so worth the spin if they have what you want!

    Forgot about Cafco actually.

I think they're into the heavier stuff, HGV conversions etc but it's worth a call I suppose.

Cafco are the Sortimo agents who fitted out a load of Sprinters for us. Seriously expensive stuff! Dave Neasy is the man there.

Try Wilker Auto Conversions in Clara. They may be able to fabricate what you require. Whether that would be cheaper than off the shelf stuff I don't know.

A Company called Van Equip in Dublin also do shelving and racking. Not the cheapest but they do modular drawers etc..... They do the fitouts for all the Garda Vans.

2008 called - they want their information back

Van Equip would have been ideal, but are no longer with us.

Was on to Dave in Cafco alright. Nearly swallowed the phone when he quoted me, but in fairness to him, he was about as nice as they come.

    Hi PD,

This guy is a bit nearer to you in Abbeyleix. Again it's Sortimo kit. Don't know if he does any other types. I'm sure there's guys in Cork also but I know this guy is spot-on.

    http://www.vanfit.ie

Even if you are undecided the website has loads of possible solutions sorted by van type.

Not connected in any way other than they use him at home for workshop vans. As you said it's v. expensive to kit something out fully. Brother has accumulated various bits of kit over the years and moved it between vans and added to it.

The accessories (fire bottle holder etc) can really add to the price so work on getting one or two basic items in and possibly fabricate the smaller bits yourself or come up with other ways of adding them in (small fire bottle holder lying around the workshop perhaps?)

Beware once you start using it properly you'll be hooked!! Really keeps stuff to hand but expensive to start out.

Fake floor is a great way of getting a flat floor back again if you always carry the same long items i.e small ladder. with it tucked under a dedicated area you can now place stuff on it properly again.

those ram assisted flaps over the wheel arch are great as they make an area that a lot of people give up on, useful again especially for storing awkward bulky things that are not in cases.

Also Sortimo do a nice set of pullout bins (much cheaper than drawers if your trying to do it cheaply) and when you shove them back in on the shelf they go behind a lip and don't fall back out unless they are lifted again. I'm sure the other manufacturers do something similar too.
