The base model (LX) won't have cruise control. It's only fitted on the titanium X models and the Irish version wouldn't usually be equiped with it unless you request it.

Really should have checked before you bought(rented?) the car to be honest. Don't take someones word for it, ever!

Cruise control on Focus is on the steering wheel either side of the horn. If it has it then you can't miss it. (Not like other cars where cruise control is on a stalk like the indicator)

I know because my Focus has cruise control.

Did a dealer tell you this?

The base model doesn't have cruise control, but some variations do. I have a "First Edition" (2005) which is an LX on the log book but has a couple of extras like Cruise Control. Always worth observing such things as the car was priced as an LX when I bought it used and these things, although not worth much, didn't cost anything.

Cruise control on the Focus is located via the buttons on either side of the steering wheel centre hub as below:

It was standard on the Ghia and Titanium models and the limited edition "First Edition" LX model. It was not fitted as standard to the LX, Style Zetec or Connection models.

Sometimes extras can be retro fitted if the plugs and wiring looms are there. You'd have to go looking for them though.
